I had an odd thing happen this morning. I had planned to do a 35 minute run, and then a 30 minute swim. I did the run on the treadmill at the Y. I started with 3 minutes walking, then 2 minutes at 5 mph. Then I took it up to 6 mph and stayed at that through the rest of the run. I could tell I was feeling a bit tired, and I was sweating like crazy. I kept pumping in the fluids, and I finished the run. Then I went into the locker room to change into my swim suit and shower. I was standing in front of my locker, swim suit in hand, and I realized there was just no way I was going to be able to swim. I was tired, still breathing hard, and still sweating, and I knew I was not going to get thru a 30 minute swim. So I listened to my body, cooled down, drank some more water, showered, changed into my work clothes and headed to the office. It felt kind of weird bailing on a workout. I haven't done that in quite awhile. But it was the right thing to do.
Now, tomorrow morning I have my first 1:1 swim lesson. I signed up for a few lessons to try and be sure I'm swimming with decent form, and not just practicing my bad habits. I haven't taken a lesson since I was a kid, and I've never done private ones, so this ought to be interesting!
Have a great night, and a great Thursday!
