The Power of Being Noticed

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

If you have read any of my blogs over the last month, you will know that I am coming back, full time, to SP after my summer break (I know, I know. Summer is just getting going. But, hey, I live in Georgia and they have their own special way of dividing up the year!!!!!!!).

Anyway, I have been getting back into tracking my food and exercise. Well, to be totally truthful, I have been trying to get back to being as focused as I was at the end of May.

So, yesterday, I am walking into my office and thinking about Bruster's Ice Cream ("dreaming" would be a better descriptor!). All of a sudden, three woman stop me and say, "Alright. How much weight have you lost!? We don't mean to be rude, but we see that you have lost weight and we want to know about it."

Wow! This made me GOOD! In fact, it kicked my focus out of its lethargy. Instead of stopping for ice cream, I went home and had a healthy dinner and went for a 90 minute walk (burning 531 calories).

This morning, I felt "empty", a feeling I strive for upon waking because it means I did not overeat the day before.

All day today, I have felt empowered and powerful....like I am in control (and I am!).

Being noticed appears to be the kick I needed. It seems that the spark that started this journey is more difficult to re-ignite than ignite. This explains why I have come to this point before and not been able to come all the way back.

So, all of this being said, NOTICE somebody everyday. Let them know that you see what they are doing and it looks good! You never know, but your NOTICE may be just the kick they need to get or remain motivated.

That's powerful!

That's fantastic!! It does help to get the random compliment or someone noticing, doesn't it?

This is very true. We need to recognize people constantly on small or big improvements that they have made to keep them in the game and motivate them to stick with it and accomplish their goals.
Have a great week and thanks for reminding us.
