I've had a LiveJournal since 2003 and I used to use it religiously. I mean LJ is really like a religion anyway, with true believers and schisms and fighting and wank and drama, with some getting peace and happiness out of it but some getting hurt, too.

It became too much, and it was mainly for fandom anyway.

I think (I hope) this separate space will let me work RL things out without having to explain to my fandom friends why I'm writing about exercise or eating right or my stupid non-working thyroid.

Some things about me: losing weight for me is like running a 5K -- it never seems to end and sometimes it's a BIG drag but I'm compelled to finish, now that I've started. (I'm not a runner, can you tell?)

Actually I feel stronger, have more stamina, and am more flexible than I've been for years but you wouldn't know it by my measurements. Boo.

Anything else? Oh yeah - I have to stop weighing myself. Daily. More than daily. I'd like a bodybugg or GoWear Fit thingy so I know how many calories I'm burning. It feels counterproductive to track my food down to the last teaspoon (which is what I was doing) when I'm guesstimating my fitness burns at best. I think I'm actually not fueling up enough and my body is slowing down its already slow metabolism, because I've actually gained a couple of pounds since starting my new (harder) fitness routine. It can't all be muscle.

Fitness is starting to become an obsession. That's good, right?

    I've been going by how my clothes fit as much as the lbs. lately. I've only lost 5 lbs. in July/beginning of August but I can fit in clothes that I can usually only wear when I'm another 5 lbs. down. Maybe this is the case for you? I think it's important to make fitness a priority. Otherwise, it's the first thing on my list to go when I get busy because I don't have to have it, do I? Yes, we do...in order to deal with all that other stuff! Good luck...keep up the fitness!

    Try weighing once a week. Also I reached a plateau and didn't lose any weight for almost two weeks. I them took an herbal cleanse and lost 4 lbs. Plus it gets your body ready to absorb more vitamins, minerals, and a healthy diet.
