Doing a little better

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

I lost a pound and a half since "hitting the reset button". I am pleased with my progress so far. I have done it before so I know what I need to do, I guess.

The house is still coming together. Today the deck is being stained and the electronics guys are coming to work on the sound system. The cabinet maker isn't done yet so there are still boxes of books all over the place. We are turning the "formal living room" into a library. I can't wait until it is done. I'll have to post a picture. Books are my sanctuary.

I'm learning my way around town and I actually ran a few errands yesterday without a GPS! I'm so proud....ha ha ha. Mostly, I am looking forward to the weekend. My brother in law, sister in law, niece and nephew are coming for dinner and I'm going to fix them a big ol' Italian style spread. They still find my Italian roots "quirky" south of the Mason Dixon Line. LOL. I'm the gatherer and I love to cook so I am in hog heaven down here. I have family and support everywhere.

I'm also planning a trip back home in September. My former direct reports wanted to give me a "proper" send off and didn't have the chance so I am heading back up to Minnesota to have a nice "happy hour" (or hours) with them, and have dinner with my BFF. I haven't decided if I am telling my mom that I will be in town or not. Things are still very strained there and this Spark People journey has taught me to be kind to myself. I think I need more time and I know she will be camping out in my house for WEEKS (whether I like it or not, she never ASKS) when the holidays come. Maybe I'll have to move in with my mother in law for a few days when that happens.....just kidding....well, not really.........

So glad you are adjusting so well to your move. I think maybe I would wait and not call Mom on that trip back and just have fun with your BFF and the others! You are doing great with your weight loss too. I also love books but have to divide my time with Spark, reading, knitting and crocheting. Oh yes, washing clothes and cleaning house!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend.

emoticon emoticon emoticon on that pound and a half you have lost since hitting your reset button!! Books are my sanctuary too with four floor to ceiling book shelves downstairs, two book shelves in my living room, etc. I would love to have a library again like I used to when we lived in a larger house. Oh well.... Can't wait to see your pictures.
Have a wonderful weekend with your relatives and your Italian spread. Sounds YUMMY!!!! Can't wait to hear how your trip home goes. I know you will enjoy it, especially time with you BFF!!! Just don't let your mom put a damper on your matter what you do. You deserve the BEST for you and it sounds like everything is coming together for you. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!
May God continue to bless you and keep you, my friend.
Blessings, love and hugs,
