Drinking Water

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Drinking water is one thing I don't do very often. Sometimes I will go 2 weeks without drinking water. All my water intake comes from whatever else I drink usually soda. Well I just read an article here on spark people and it was about how to tell if you are full. A good point in the article was between bites take a big sip of water. For one I hate drinking water, I always buy water flavor of course the sugar and calorie free one. When I do drink plain water it is because I did a lot of exercise or worked in the yard which isn't very often. I tried drinking water throughout my meal a few months back and yes it did help me lose weight. I really don't remember how much weight or how long I drank water with my meals. Well the point of explaining all this is that drinking water is my new goal. First I don't like the taste of water unless I get real thirsty then at times my body will crave regular water. Second there is nothing worse for me than trying to drink water when I am eating. I love to drink soda while I eat my food and snacks. I usually drink a lot of Coke Zero but when I run out and my fiancÚ forgets to buy it for me I end up drinking his regular Coke. Well I am going to start tomorrow I have to do it! No matter how hard it is! I will let you all know what happens. emoticon

I am struggling with the same thing right now. I had some sort of venti latte from Starbucks every morning that would last me through the day. Now with water its lucky if I'm hitting 4 cups. Guess we'll both have to just keep working on it. It does work eventually. I remember when I was going through basic training they used to make us force hydrate all the time. By the end of basic training drinking an entire canteen in one sitting was no big deal. emoticon

Water was a HUGE challenge for me too. Coffee & Coke Zero were always on hand, but water? Isn't that just for baths, laundry.. doing dishes.. the lawn.. yadda yadda..! It took me almost two months for water to become something I didn't feel I had to force on myself every day, so don't sweat it if it takes some time for you! I found the more I exercise, the more water I drink -- and HAPPILY drink more all day long! I'm still amazed at the transformation. I read a Spark article too, that says some fruits can be counted as part of your water intake! Watermelon (no duh, right?) cantaloupe etc.. that helped me a lot too! Good luck with your journey!!

Hey! This was a huge struggle for me too! I'm still not consistently hitting 8 glasses a day but I'm very close. I've given up diet soda except for one in the morning (I don't drink coffee....have to get some caffeine somehow!) and occasionally one in the evening if I have air popped popcorn for a snack (water with air popped popcorn should be against the law). Try a little squeeze of lemon or lime in your water too! You CAN do it!
