I'm in disbelief that I am in the 10th week of my marathon training and I've got some upcoming dilemmas that I've got to figure out so that I don't fall of my marathon train!!!
I couldn't believe myself that I had made it to 10 weeks of marathon training. It's all due to joining this great team in Dallas, the Dallas Galloway Running Group. I started on June 5th and didn't know for sure that I was going to have the normal motivation to keep it up. Well, it's August 7th and I am in my 10th week and have been consistent since that first day. There have been a couple weeks that I missed some of my weekday runs due to some unforeseen situation with work or more recently, POISON IVY, but I had not missed one Saturday group run...well, until this coming Saturday and 3 Saturdays in September. These will be the first Saturdays that I will not be running with my group. The first Saturday, I will be in Virginia visiting a friend, but my plan is to run my 9 miler in DC, where she does not live too far from. Then again in September, I'll be on vacation with my DH, the first 3 Saturdays. First, Labor Day weekend, I have a 5 miler scheduled with my group, where I'll have to be disciplined and run it alone in Auburn, Al, as we'll be enjoying the first Auburn Tiger football game of the season. WAR EAGLE!
Then the following weekend, my DH and I leave on Saturday for Mexico for 7 days. That Saturday I am scheduled for a 16-17 miler and the Sat. we return, I am scheduled for an 8-10 miler. This is my main dilemma, 2 Saturdays in a row of long runs, when and where will I do those. I don't think I'll be up for running a 17 miler on the beaches of Playa Del Carmen, heck not even 5 miles. So what to do....what to do?
I've got a few weeks to decide what I'll do with this situation, any suggestions from any of my fellow running sparkers would be greatly appreciated.
Now onto a great Saturday run yesterday. Once again, our runs are starting at 5am now on Saturdays and I like it like that. The only downfall is that it makes for an early to bed Fri. night, which used to be my fun night....teehee! I also have to get up at 3am to eat, stretch and let my body do what it needs to do prior to a long run. It was a humid morning and the sweat was dripping by 2 miles in but I had no knee issues, no GI issues, and ran quite strong. Around mile 10, my legs were feeling a bit sore but not too bad. I think it was just a bit of fatigue but nothing I couldn't overcome. In fact, my run was so strong I sprinted in with a 7:42 min. for the last 1/4 mile! Great run all in all and as always felt great to run with my WWF (We Will Finish) pace group.
On to another week of Galloway weekday runs.
Have a super week my Spark Friends!
