For a couple of years now I've been considering becoming vegetarian, but dismissed it as being too difficult. I'd feel a little guilty every time I ate meat, but it tasted so good, and I would try just not to think about it too much.
But over the past few months I've been incorporating vegetarian meals into my "rotation" and finding them as delicous as all my other non-vegetarian dishes. And early last week I learned that this weekend was Veggie Fest, a free vegetarian festival just minutes from my house. So I told myself Thursday that I would try a week as a vegetarian and see how I felt about it, but after today I can almost promise it's gonna stick. I'm even going to try to transition to vegan over time, but I'm not really up to throwing out my milk, cheese and eggs. I'm just going to try transitioning over time as I run out.
Veggie Fest was so much FUN though! Yes, they discussed animal cruelty and other "messy" topics, but for the most part it was a celebration of delicious food, great music from around the world and speakers sharing their knowledge of a vegetarian lifestyle. I had a blast and am bringing everyone I know next year, lol!
AND - I donated blood for the first time! What a fulfilling day!
