Resentment Binge/P90X and Cardio

Sunday, August 08, 2010

Well, I guess I'm a little resentful that I've been eating right on track and haven't missed a P90X workout in 2 weeks and haven't lost a pound, but my scale says I've gone up in body fat%. I know, I know, there are factors. (I just finished week 2 of P90X, by the way.) Before I started it, I'd discovered some seriously intense interval training dvds. Serously good workouts. And my scale was telling me I was on the right track-I was losing about 1.5-2 lb/wk. Do I need to add more cardio to P90X?

Anyway, last night I way overdid it with the calories. I just felt like, "it doesn't matter anyway, so why bother." Yes, I know it matters. Just a momentary setback, but if I'm doing something wrong and I continue to just sit at my current weight/body fat %, I'm pretty sure it will happen again.

Hoping for some input from you guys. My main question: does anyone add their own cardio to P90X?

I started doing p90x lean version three weeks ago (i'm starting 4th week today) and have been running on the days of strength training. Right now it is only 2-2.5 miles and I've been doing the lean version so I felt like I could fit it in. Next week I'm going to start phase 1 of the classic version and will still continue to run as long as I'm not feeling overworked.

Mixing in the running has been fine so far, I've lost 3lbs (not paying attention to bf% yet, but will next week) but I don't know if that is from adding the running or from general watching what I eat and working out.

I hope you get the answer you are looking for. I am finishing the second week of P90X tomorrow and have gained weight. I do think my legs are looking better and my stomache so I am just going to keep at it and hope to see some progress on the scale.

I think in phase 2 if I am still at the same weight I am going to run a couple days of the week. emoticon

Im having the same problem with body fat % on my scale and p90x.
Ive been told scales lie, The BF % can be affected by many different things, like humidity, body temperature, time of day etc.
I have added some extra cardio, so its like my own version of doubles, even though im doing the lean program.
Ive added bike riding, basketball, and ping pong.
Also as you gain muscle and lose fat, you may actually stay the same weight or gain weight because muscle is heavier. Have you checked your measurements?
