Mother Is Very Low
Saturday, August 07, 2010
My mother was once again taken by ambulance to the emergency room on Tuesday, the day after my last blog. Wow, a lot has happened since then.
She has had a very rapid decline the last three days with complications of septic shock from staph infection, possibly from the heart valve itself, we don't know; but all medical signs would point to this as a possibility.
She declined very rapidly and unexpectedly Thursday and Friday, with additional complications of a heart attack and kidney failure. She is largely unresponsive, but we detect that she is aware of what is being said, but is mostly unable to respond. The family was all together today.
The doctor's give little hope for survival. Although she seems to be responding a bit to the antibiotics, they do not anticipate the kidney failure to turn around. We've had to make some tough and painful decisions; and although in pain, I believe we all are at peace.
We rest in the Shepherd who will carry her and us on this portion of our life's journey.
