August Rain

Thursday, August 05, 2010

Today has been pleasant in the fact that it has been raining. It did mess with my outdoor plans, but I'll live with it, we were beginning to need the rain.

Wet rain is not the only rain that's been falling in August. I guess it could be blamed on the hot weather or whatever excuse is handy. It seems to be raining a lot of penmanship lashings.

I'm reminded of several sayings when I read comments that are less than nice on a persons blog or page. He who lives in a glass house should throw no stone, don't judge a man's shoes until you've walked a mile in them, what goes around comes around, think before you leap, oh I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea.

I just what to say this. Hurtful demeaning remarks left do no one any good, especially the person on the receiving end. Spark is a place for support and encouragement. It doesn't have to be dripping with syrup, but it should be good true support. You may not think that person did all they could do, or perhaps they are just looking for justification as to why they went off program, but keep it to yourself if the comment you are about to leave is vicious and nasty. These people need support just as much if not more as the next person. If you have to be nasty and point out all the wrong reasons they did what they did send a private email. It's called don't air you dirty laundry outside, most of the neighbors really don't like to look at it.

That's it. Some who read this will know where this came from, some won't. I just hope whoever reads this understands and thinks next time they are about to leave a not so nice reply.

Hope wherever you are you are having a great day, not too hot, and your program is on track for you.

Yes, I agree completely. This isn't "Youtube", it's Sparkpeople. At times, Youtube has the most nasty remarks left on it by a bunch of low class coward losers who can remain anonymous and Youtube admins do nothing about it. I can think of at least one person on Sparkpeople who goes around leaving her poison remarks here and there all the while thinking she was doing some good because she is what I call a "sidewalk psychologist".

My husband is Czech and his family has a name for it. I can't spell it, but I can pronounce it and it's pronounced "shishkoznotz". It means "You think you know everything but you don't know $hit" It's a perfect saying!!!

Glad you are getting the rain you need ... We have gotten some off and on, but for the most part, are watering the garden with sprinklers rather than waiting on the rain :)

Maybe your blog is jsut that, also ... sending out some much needed manual sprinkling of support, kind comments and good thoughts.

Hoping you are having a super day! emoticon

Very well said, SEK!! Maybe some people can't read or choose to just be mean and nasty. It will bite them and let's hope very soon!!!

Perhaps this will bring home the meaning of do unto others as you would have them do unto you?

It might also be a pointer to low self esteem.

Amen sista! Couldn't of said it any better. Those that choose to be mean and nasty just need to go away. Nobody needs or wants them here anyway.

I, too, have noticed this on blogs and posts and wondered about the old saying that if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all? I'm with you, such comments demean instead of lifting up. -- Lou

You know, the ones who should heed this will probably think it's for somebody else...
You're right, there really isn't room on SparkPeople for snarky.
emoticon for the reminder.
