My 4th Sparkiversary

Thursday, August 05, 2010

Today, Aug. 5, is my 4th anniversary with SparkPeople. Time to measure my annual weight loss...ho hum.....and see the progression.....yawn..........

Here are the numbers:
2006 213
2007 197
2008 192
2009 194.5 (Big oops!)
2010 189

For that track record, it seems that I am pretty darn good at losing about 5 - 6 lbs. a year! After 4 years of Sparking, I have lost a grand total of 24 lbs.

Let's take a look at the past year: Do I have more energy? NO. Can I tell any difference in the way my clothes are fitting? NO. Can I see any difference at all from last August to now? Not really.

I know I should be happy. I am losing the weight and keeping it off pretty well, although I do backslide a bit now and then. But I need to lose at least 50 more pounds, so I have to do something to make the weight come off at a faster rate. When I compare myself to others, I am envious that others can lose in one month what takes me a year to lose!

Oh well. Yay me! Another year, a few more tiny pounds gone towards a huge goal. Will I be more successful next year? We'll see.............

I hope you have a better year ahead and that you get closer to the results that you want to see. Like someone else has said, you are indeed going in the right direction. God bless and keep you, my friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Shirley

First of all, Happy Anniversary! 4 years is AWESOME! And while we are on this journey, we all know there are changes we need to make. But, to have a consistent loss is a very GOOD thing. You may not be where you had hoped you would be at this time, but you are definitly heading in the right direction!

Congratulations to you!

Ditto on the last blog, but I also have heard there are people out there that are not eating enough!?!? :o) Maybe you could try shocking your body a couple times a week into eating more than normal. But all in all, I would love to be where you are. :o)

I am sure you must have evaluated where you might need to make some major changes to see some additional results. For example, if you exercise with the same routine you might want to intensify the routine so that you are sweating more or burning up on your muscles. If you drink 8 glasses a day you might want to increase it to 12 glasses a day. If you are tracking your food and lowering the various aspects of your food by increasing in protein so as to sustain you from feeling hungry faster or may need to look at your fiber intake to increase that as well by adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet. If you do all of those things, you might want to drop your calorie goal to a significantly lower level to see results.
