Walking, Walking, Walking

I am a freelancer and work virtually, which is a perfect arrangement for my sometimes chaotic life. No one cares when I work as long as I make deadlines.

A few weeks ago, my favorite client decided to institute 2 weekly 20-minute conference calls so the freelancers didn't feel out of touch with the office staff.

I HATE conference calls. They tend to be a waste of people jockeying for position and interrupt the flow of my research or writing.

So, I've worked out how I can survive the calls without acting out. I walk around the house during the call. It makes me less inclined to comment on what I think are ridiculous comments and gets in some much-needed exercise.

After the call yesterday, the client called about a rush research job. I love her to bits, but it takes her forever to get to the point. So, I started walking again.

By the end of the 2 calls I had gotten in over 10,000 steps, knew I would make my targeted calorie burn for the day, and didn't feel as frustrated as I usually do after a call.

It's nice to be able to sneak activity into my day.

    I've done the same thing while doing phone counseling...grab my cell and head for the outdoors! I find I'm more engaged during the session...nice win-win approach! :-)

  Good for you......I like to walk around while I am on the phone too, it doesn't even seem like exercise that way.

    I know exactly what you mean with the con calls. I try to take as many as I can on my cell phone, and pace around. It's amazing how many calories you can burn!

    That's pretty excellent. I sometimes do the 4A strategy just in general, not even meetings, thinking I'll increase my NEAT if I fidget more...

    That's a stellar idea. I did some pushups once, but grunting and being out of breath was a giveaway. LOL
