I've been reading a number of blogs this morning and I'm amazed at what the accomplishments of my fellow Sparksters (and myself in some instances) have enabled us to do. While any amount of weight is a challenge to lose, when you have the large amounts many of us do, the loss many times enables us to do things we've never experienced before in our adult lives (sometimes not even as a child or teen).
Enjoying an amusement park - I can now walk without pain or getting winded after just a few minutes. I'm no longer over the maximum weight allowed on a ride. I can ride with my husband, child, or grandchild comfortably. I can look forward to the time and enjoy it.
Enjoying shopping - I can now find clothes that look and fit well. Again, I have the stamina to walk long distances.
Enjoying a plane ride - I don't have to use the extended seat belt. I don't need to keep the arm-rest up so it won't cut into my hips. I don't overflow into my fellow passengers' seats.
Enjoying time with my husband - We exercise together. I have more energy to be active together. He can really hold me close when he hugs me! (Really nice)
Enjoying me - I don't take my health for granted. I'm off medication with doctor's blessing. I'm enjoying running, walking, and biking..
Many of these things are "firsts" for me EVER! I wasn't sure how to deal with some of them because of this. SP has been a blessing with the articles, resources and most importantly, the other wonderful Sparksters that share, encourage, vent and listen to each other. No matter how much you have to lose, hang in there, know your goals are achievable, but it is work and sometimes it's not easy. But it is oh so worth it when you experience a new ability for the first time, scary sometimes - yes, but still so worth it!
