Thanks for sharing! I also have only been on my journey for a little over a month. It is amazing that you are recognizing these benefits so early, and I now can see some of those benefits myself, especially the energy and better sleeping. Sometimes we all just want to focus on the numbers on the scale, but there are many non-scale victories to be aware of. Keep thinking positivity and good luck! I look forward to seeing more from you :)

I really loved your vlog. Thank you so much for sharing. I can totally relate to how important the energy & good sleep is. In as much as I'm anxious to lose this weight, I'm excited to reap the other benefits. I am getting good at logging in my food, but getting the exercise on a regular, routine basis is my current focus.

Best of luck on your journey, your off to a great start!

What I found most inspirational was the fact that you are celebrating what many would consider not 'big' or important enough. Your vlog reminded me of the article: One Step Closer: A Journey of a Lifetime.

I REALLY loved your vlog! I can relate to so much of what you are saying. I also needed thyroid medicine...plus I was severely anemic and Vit. D deficient. Like you, I was so exhausted all the time I could not take care of my house and it was hard to do even small things. The energy after getting the medicine I needed is amazing! And what a relief to find out I wasn't "lazy" like I feared, I had something medically wrong with me.

I also love trying new foods and applaud you for doing that. When I travel, I make a point of finding some kind of food I have never seen before to try. A vegetable I really like that is pretty easy to find anywhere, and that I eat regularly now, is broccoli rabe. It looks sort of like broccoli, but it's in the turnip family so you might like it too. I use this recipe to cook it: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/f

Good luck in your journey and thanks for your vlog! You really inspired me and cheered me up today.

Even though you said you were kind of nervous, you put together a terrific presentation. It was as good as watching a guest on one of the morning talk shows reporting about a successful journey to a healthier you. Bravo.... You are an inspiration.

This is a wonderful milestone vlog!

MsApril, I heard you mention taking thyroid medication. Later on, you mention preferring eating raw turnips to cooked because of your sensory issues. Something that doctors don't educate people with thyroid disease about is how certain foods can interfere with our thyroid. Turnips are part of the brassica family (along with other cabbage family veggies) and contain enzymes that interfere with the formation of thyroid hormone. Lightly cooking them destroys that enzyme, so keeping them still crunchy should still keep them acceptable to your senses. I don't think a little here and there would be too awful, but if you eat broccoli, coleslaw, turnips, and brussels sprouts all frequently, it could become an issue.

You should be able to find threads about it in the Thyroid community. Mostly they talk about broccoli, but turnips are in the same family.

I loved so many things about your blog! First of all, I loved how you kept calling this a journey! It sounds so positive. And I loved how you are placing the emphasis on what you have gained vs. lost. Again, very positive. I loved hearing the foods that you have discovered! Keep trying new, healthy foods. I loved that you listed support from your husband, family, and on-line friends! AND finally, I LOVED how you gave me the biggest smile on my face while I watched and listened to you share what you have gained! You are an inspiration and a success story in the making!!! Good luck on your journey!

I can definitely identify with the texture thing. Trying flash steaming and a super quick stir fry. That way, things are not soggy or mushy.

Good luck and continued success!

I enjoyed your video blog, you did not come across as nervous at all and the sound/picture came in great! Thanks for sharing your accomplishments, you reinforced the need for awareness that there can be so much more to be proud of than what the scale reads as a result of making healthy changes. Not sure if you would like, but frozen grapes are a nice treat ~ esp on a hot day! I have just tried jicama recently, and it is great! It was mixed with fresh corn scraped from the cob, and had a vinagrette dressing ~ delicious!

Great to have support of loved ones. Good that you are trying new foods and liking them, try the peppers cut up and roasted with other veggies that way they don't go soggy
