Pedometer trouble

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Anyone have any tips for using a pedometer effectively? I seem to have many problems trying to use them. I don't get a very accurate read if I actually count my steps it really doesn't match what the meter says. I have tried a couple of different kinds, and no success. I also wind up resetting it to zero accidentally several times during the day leaning up against the counter or adjusting my shirt etc. or it falls off. Help. emoticon

Hi, I've had the same problem, especially with cheaper pedometers. Many of them wait for a certain number of continuous steps before they start measuring, and if you stop, however briefly, they stop counting and you have to start again. I walk miles with my dogs, but every time they sniff a bush I lose 10-15 steps. Spent 90 minutes walking to show 73 steps once! I've found that the more expensive walker's pedometers are usually more reliable as they can be put in a pocket and clipped on, rather than a waist band. Hope this helps.
