Things a chubby girl learned from running her first 5K.

1. No matter who tells you not drink RED Bull before your will dry out and forget that little piece of good advise about pacing yourself. My natural adrenaline works nicely thank you very much.
2. Other runners are a distraction that you have to learn to deal are cars, traffic and spectators.
3. Rap music on the mp3 player will help you sprint to the finish repeat if needed. 4. Timing is everything, especially with your music.
5. I'm stronger that I think I am.
6. I'm my own worst antagonist.
7. Lightening is the greatest motivator of all! You will move your butt to get across the line before God strikes you dead!
8. I'm pretty sure I can do this again.
9. I'm glad that I challenged myself!

    I just did my 3rd 5k on July 4th. the first 2 I did about 15 years ago! I say "did" because I was clueless as to what I was getting myself into! See, the last 2 times I did a 5k was with a bunch of female co-workers so we just gabbed and walked and walked and gabbed. we'd cross the finish line when we'd cross the finish line. no biggie. but this time was different! I was part of a duathlon relay team that was intermingled with a true triathlon. a duathlon, for those of you who don't know is a 1/2 mile run, 10 mile bike ride and the 5k. my friend did the biking, I did the rest. so here I thought I'd walk it just like I did the other 2 times. boy was I sadly mistaken! everyone else ran laps around me! but I'm happy to report I did not come in last place. third to the last but not last! so if you actually ran it then good for you and you go girl! so I owe it to myself to actually run a 5k this year. not walk but run. ok, mostly run it. so good job and here's to your next 5k!
