Getting ready for a checkout

Monday, July 19, 2010

I spent the day brushing up on the VFR regs. I drove around a couple of airports and have found a place renting a Piper Warrior close to where our new home is being built. I'll arrange to get checked out next month.

I've never made it to Sun-N-Fun despite living since 2000 within an hours drive. It seems that pesky work thing kept getting in the way. I'll have to crave out so time to do it.

In my FI days, I used to laugh at the airline pilots coming back to check out in rentals. I remember a TWA pilot driving an Archer on short final doing about 120 kts. That's why I'm hitting the books. It's that karma thing. emoticon

Many people would say best of luck, but you are a good pilot, you make your own luck. VFR approaches are a piece of cake, even to an ATP who is used to flying by the numbers, in CAVU weather. You will do just fine. Did you go to Sun-N-Fun this year? Brie
