There is nothing better than seasonal, fresh produce!!

Sunday, July 18, 2010

It seems to be better this year for some reason. Maybe because our winters are kind of long and our growing season for some things is short...I can't get enough when things are in season. The plums, peaches, berries, lettuce, corn and others I can't think of now are so sweet and tasty.

I have my own garden, but use the farmers markets to supplement what I don't have. My own garden is beautiful this year...today, I picked green beans, lettuce, squash and 4 Tami G tomatoes (like grape tomatoes).

Here are a few pictures of my vegetable and flower gardens.

I never knew basil could come in miniature. I found these seeds and planted them in a pot. The aroma of this is so great!

For once, the japanese beetles didn't consume my rose of sharon.

Very lovely! The summer heat is already doing tragic things to my garden.

Excellent stuff! We've started pulling green peppers and cucumbers. I've got a ton of tomaties, but none are ready yet.

Love the idea of growing our own produce...however so do some un-named critters who neatly nipped the tops off of all but one of our red pepper plants...grrr!

Still have lots of cherry tomatoes, summer squash, zucchini and onions coming though...

Gorgeous! I'm in a new (to me) house and this is my first summer. We planted veggies but so far only have gotten a lovely summer squash and some peas. We're composting, and hopefully will be able to build up the soil enough to get a bigger harvest next year.

Gorgeous! I'm a confirmed plant-killer, so I am in awe of those who can actually plant things and reap the bounty.

Nice garden. I miss having one - don't have time anymore to keep up with them. But I have been visiting the Farmer's Market alot. And eating lots of strawberries - because they are so cheap this year!!! emoticon
