Running--in my world, it wasn't likely to happen!

Ski season ended and my husband decided the next family project was running in preparation for the kids Bluenose Marathon (he wanted to run with the boys). I reluctantly agreed to try it--found the Couch to 5K on SP and figured if we started slow, perhaps I'd eventually be able to run for 5 mins. straight. Hmph...I hated it and was very slow so my husband and the oldest boy ran together while I ran with the 10 year old (about my speed) and the 7 year old, who wanted to run even less than I did. We continued until approx. 3 weeks before the Bluenose, at which point we were on week 4 and I was the only one running--the other 2 had completely given up. My frustration was great and I quit with them.
Just as we were entering my summer vacation, I seemed to have the urge to start running again so I began morning runs. I just completed my second 20 minute run (23 to be precise) and I am pumped and proud. I really didn't think I had it in me to accomplish such a feat--but today it's feeling real. I'll just keep adding a few more minutes each time. I'm not worried about speed, just time at this point.
To me, this is a huge accomplishment and even though my weight loss is slowing down, I'm in better shape than I have been in years! I'm just so proud of what SP has helped me become--it's a motivator like no other. Thanks to Chris and SP for making it real for me!!!
Edited Note: On July 30th I ran my first 5.5K (31.32 minutes) around our neighbourhood. I'm signing up for an official run in October and am so proud that I have made it this far. Perhaps my time's not great but I didn't stop once and I even managed to put a little speed into it on the last 0.3K. Mission accomplished!
Edited Note2: On September 11 I ran 6.55K. It just keeps getting better and better.
