Today, while I was out on my early morning walk these are some things I realized made me smile today and value the little things in life. I felt like I needed to share these with my SparkPeople community.
Awoke to the sound of my husband's alarm going off around 4:30AM. My eyes were still glued shut but I started stretching out the body getting it prepared for my "Get Up & Go" routine. Once my husband got out of our bathroom, I was greeted with a "Good Morning". While ambling my way to the kitchen for a healthy breakfast got a quick hug from my husband as he headed out the door to work (Nice, way to start the day so far). Made sure to dress in my workout clothes and listened to the weather guy while eating my healthy breakfast of Fiber One honey cluster cereal with a small cup of coffee, (the fruit is for after the walk). Then its out the door into the muggy morning air for my sunrise walk.
Starting out I was greeted by our 2 outside female sister cats, Panther and Tiger. While heading down to the church the bluebird who's taken up residence in my abandon neighbor's mailbox zoomed out to fly up on the telephone wires. That flash of brilliant blue in the early daybreak is a wonderful sight and pop on came the smile!
Along my route I watched the sunrise play peek-a-boo with the storm gray bellied clouds. The colors were amazing in yellows, orange-peach, and pinks contrasted with the gray blue and white of the clouds- BEAUTIFUL!
Oops, out came a bigger smile.
Then while on my final lap of my 4 miles walk this morning I was greeted with seeing a young deer coming out of the woods to cross the connecting dirt road. It paused in the road to look at me, what a special treat for my day.
I considered myself truly lucky as I increased my pace for that final lap back up the road to really add some final challenge to my workout. On the last trip back and cooling down- what do I see? That deer accompanied by another re-crossing the road and pausing to look at me as the sun rays started to light up the tops of the trees.
Amazing, beautiful, a wonderful way to start a day with lots of smiles and sparking into my healthy way of life.
The best image to end this with is entering my home to see my son still fast asleep in bed cuddled up with his Boston terrier and the Akita laying on the floor beside the bed.
Stop and think- what are some things that made you truly smile today?
