Visions of Sugar Plums (and blueberries!) Dancing in my Head

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Often when I have too much to do, I manage to find time to squeeze extraordinary things into the cracks of my day. Today was no exception.

On Friday, I'm going away for 3 weeks. During that time I'll be traveling for 3 different Leadership gigs in 3 different locations and squeezing in a week of vacation in the middle. There's air travel, car travel, border crossing, kids, an elderly mom, and dogs to get to our cottage in Canada. There's much to coordinate and many different events to pack for. Before I leave, I'm working extra hours to squeeze in all my clients before being gone so long. With all of this going on, of course this is when both of our cars need repairs, backs need adjusting, last minute purchases need to be made, hair needs to be cut, bills need to be paid, and family comes to visit. Oh... and new things need to be learned, because I'll be teaching them next week! Oy Vey!

And to top it all off.... the BLUEBERRIES ARE RIPENING!

For many, blueberry season is just the time of year they show up in the grocery store in larger quantities. For me, this is something I look forward to all year. I LOVE PICKING BERRIES! The idea of going out of town during berry season is killing me! I fear they'll all be done by the time I get back. This simply won't do! What's a berry fanatic to do?

Simple solution: Get ex-husband (also a berry fiend) to show me his hot spots, then have him repair my car while I borrow his truck and go berry picking. As long as he's fixing my car, there's nothing else in the world I could be doing but picking berries. Voila! Worked like a charm.

More good news - the Sugar Plums were ripe too!!

There are gallons more I want to pick, but for now... I'm happy I got to get out even for a little while. I will squeeze in more picking if at all possible. Meanwhile, I may just have to leave it to the ex-husband to fill my freezer with berries. He's an excellent ex in that way!

Bonus fun squeezed into a crack: My sister arrived today from WI for a visit and she brought along her bike. We rode (in the rain!) after dinner. Just a quick ride, but SO FUN to be riding with her for the first time in nearly 40 years. THANK YOU SPARK PEOPLE! Without this site, that event just might never have happened. I feel super blessed.

Okay... back to work!

Love this! We couldn't make it to the farm this weekend, and I'm in a deep funk because of it. I vow to pick twice as many blueberries this weekend!

You have got to be the SP energy poster child! So many people come here hoping to find new energy; you're just a shining example!

P.S. Did you noticed how I didn't even make a joke about your ex's hot spots? emoticon

You know, I love reading the blogs of different people. The different perspectives are interesting and I get motivated by the energy people have. I do want to say however, I don't know when I've read about someone with your energy. And, on top of that, you're so positive and your outlook so sunny, one can't help but feel good after reading what you wrote.

Congratulations on all you've achieved and continued success. Little things like car repairs and be taken care of, but joyous things like a bike ride in the rain with your sister(and being able to see the wonder in it) are priceless.
