I'm Still Here!

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Just a quick note to my friends to say that I am still here, checking in each day and trying to keep up. Life has been quite busy, and I haven't spent quite as much time here interacting, but I'm still thinking of you and praying that you staying on track. Still checking your blogs, though you may have noticed my responses are a bit shorter.

As my caretaking job ended, I find that God has opened many new doors for opportunities, all of which are pointing me to some long range goals that I've had but had put on hold. I'm working several small jobs on a consulting basis, gaining some writing/editing/photography experience. I'm also taking a class to learn how to better use my camera and am signing up for a Digitial Photography and Photoshop class at the community college in the fall.

All the while, I'm trying to squeeze in my walking and not let the fitness lag. Somehow I'm finding it so much harder to motivate myself to get out and walk in these hot summer days, but this last week I was a bit more regular logging the fitness minutes. (I can assure you that there are few that are NOT logged, so if I'm getting them, I'm logging them!) The good news is that I have stayed within my goal weight range. The bad news is, I don't feel quite as toned as I had...it is disgusting how fast muscle can get flabby at my age! But I shan't complain. Much. It takes work.

I still sneak in extra steps whenever I can, and squats when I brush my teeth. Never let an opportunity go by...

I hope you all are doing well, staying cool, and enjoying your summer. Stay healthy!

Nice blog as always. I too had slacked off . It has been hot here in RI as well and the air quality is not good. I started using a walking dvd and then someone suggested Leslie Sansone I bought one and I like it so am trying to do it most days.

And the same to you. I think most of us have our resolve weakened by the hot weather.

Thanks for the update, Terri. It's SO hot here, too. Exercising early in the morning is still HOT! I so want to get into a routine where I don't "think" about exercising. I just do it! Not to ask myself do I "feel" like exercising, but to JUST DO IT!
Not there yet. Some days yes, some days no.
I'm still working at it, though.
Good to hear from you!
Love,
Lee

I hear you, Teri! This morning was actually the first really proper workout I've done since moving here - I thought that summer would be easier, but it's not... too hot. And although I have gained back 6 pounds (which isn't that much in the grand scheme of things) I have lost muscle tone and added an inch or two. Ugh! But, I am feeling determined. My mum is still here - after she goes home, I shall send you a deatailed message telling you all about dinner with the Queen. We sat at the next table, so I could gaze at her all evening (discreetly, of course).

I relate to everything you've shared. I have gone through much of the same with moving, settling in, and starting the club. It is actually harder to work-out when you work there because if you don't work out early, I seem to need to get on out of there when the day is done. I am enjoying getting the business going! I did committ to a class starting Tues., in the morning and I started tracking my food again yesterday. I have gained a few pounds, but it is the skin sag that is really bothering me. No way to hide it in shorts. And we have had a week and a half of triple digit temps...just no humidity! Your plans sound exciting! Touch base as you can. Mary

I find it hard to get in squats etc. but do walk on a regular basis. You might check with the college about fitness room so its air conditioned. It is a little bit like the YMCA. Most colleges and universities have them now. If you're a student you can go in. You might try using the sink to squat down too when doing the dishes. I find it helps with the love handles.
