Not "Sleepless in Seattle" !!

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Sleeplessness has been the bane of my existence. I have RLS (restless leg syndrome) and sleep apnea. The combination does not lend itself to quality sleep. I use a CPAP machine at night to breathe properly and I tend to rip it off accidentally if I do fall asleep. The other night, I woke up after about 2 hours of sleep and the "nasal pillows" were all plugged up with water from the humidifier in the machine. I ended up with water all over my bed and spent about 15 minutes blowing it dry with my hairdryer. All of this occurred at 4:00AM. The good news is that I was able to go back to sleep. YEAH !! Now if I lived in Seattle, I wouldn't mind being sleepless because I love the Pacific Northwest. It reminds me of Ireland...

Thanks for your kind comments. I hope that your husband has continued success with his CPAP. Tonight is a "battle of the restless legs night"! I just found out that my 13 year old grandson is starting to exhibit signs of restless leg syndrome. WOW- we have a very strong genetic trait. Wishing you all of the best in your goals... emoticon

Sorry to hear about your sleeplessness, especially coming from more than 1 source. Glad to hear that the CPAP does help you sleep some though. My husband's comes off sometimes during the night also; at first he didn't think that he would be able to use it.
