First I would like to thank all my SparkFriends for your comments on my last blog regarding finally receiving our first letter from our youngest son from Marine Corps Boot Camp. All your kind words and support mean so much. Well, it has now been one month since Alex left and we have two months left until his graduation day. We have received many letters from him and a couple were rough for "this mom" to read as he was not having the best of days and when one of my sons is hurting, I hurt (you know how that goes). We are now receiving letters telling us of his days and all that is required of the recruits. It is the most grueling process to go to MC Boot Camp and not everyone makes it. I know from previous experience with our middle son. There are some who do not make it past those "yellow foot prints" at the gate of the Marine Corps Base and then some make into a couple of weeks and yet others may go further and have to drop out. So I know he is truly in one of the greatest challenges of his life. I send him a letter daily as he said "mom, I was so happy to hear my name called over and over at mail call". You have to realize that that is his only communication with his family & friends and it is precious to get a letter. I pray daily for him and all of his fellow recruits who he will come to know as "brother". Upon the eve of this 4th let us not forget what great sacrifice it is to the one serving and those who wait upon them at home. Freedom is never free but comes with great sacrifice! God Bless America and God Bless my son as he continues on this journey to become a United States Marine!
