The Best Thing About My Root Canal Yesterday!

Friday, June 25, 2010

No one likes Root Canals, right? This was the third one for me over this lifetime and I was experiencing pain on every level (mental, physical & financial). The fact that my regular dentist just put a crown on this tooth in March to save it from an old deteriorating filling made this procedure that much more annoying!

However, the first words out of the endodontist's mouth as he began to prep for the procedure really made my day. He said, I'm going to go slowly with numbing medication because you don't weigh very much." Music to my ears. He then began to confess how unhappy he was that he had put on a few pounds lately. That gave me the opportunity to share with him about Spark People!

I reached my goal weight last July 15th and I suddenly realized that I have maintained it for almost a year! My body image has not completely caught up with the "new" me, so I am still surprised when someone calls me petite. I have just continued to log my maintenance calories every day and strive for consistent exercise habits.

Let me tell you that getting to and maintaining a healthy weight never gets old. I LOVE wearing shape flattering clothes instead of cover-ups and you cannot put a price on the joy of getting out of bed in the morning with energy and enthusiasm. My point is that ALL the hard work, planning and never giving up are SO WORTH IT!!!

I wish SUCCESS for you ALL!!!

I couldn't resist the title of this blog. I had a similar experience recently when my physical trainer asked if my daughter was a tiny as I was! Me, tiny, never!

Isn't it great when you can make lemonade out of lemons. You have so much to be proud of!!!!

I have read that maintenance is difficult in part because you lose some of the positive reinforcement. When you are losing weight, people will notice and comment about it. After you've maintained your weight, there is no change to comment about, and the weight loss may be taken for granted. I think this is especially true with people who did not know you at your heaviest. But you seem create your own positive reinforcment. You rock, girl!!!!!

    Petite...Sweet!
I hope you are back to eating crunchy carrots soon.
Did your endodontist seem receptive to Sparkpeople?
I was in the pool the other day when someone asked if I had lost weight, which gave me an oppty to share SP, but I noticed he kinda glazed over as I was telling him how great it was.
I will keep spreading the good news of Spark, how can you not?
