I have two parts in my life: BSP and ASP, Before Spark and After Spark! In my BSP going out for a meal was a past time activity which I enjoyed a lot, especially in the US with all the many different ethnic foods.
Since I have become a lot more food conscious, I stopped going to restaurants, mainly because I do not like all the hidden sodium, fillers, food coloring and calories. I enjoy eating at home, especially when my hubby cooks! Just kidding!
Yesterday, I took a friend and her mother for lunch. I was scanning the menu to find something SMALL, there was nothing vegetarian, not in the country side of Texas! I avoided the 4 oz. burger, also the crawfish etouffe (which I like but God knows how much lard is in that sauce.) I settled for grilled shrimp from the senior menu (!) and the server let me have boiled vegetables instead of French fries. The food came and I was ok with what I got: 5 gigantic shrimps and the vegetables with a small salad. Thank goodness I had not given in to the etouffe: My friend's mum got the "small" portion. OMG there was enough food for three days (especially after coming back from Europe, LOL!)
And let's not forget: BSP I would have happily eaten the "normal" portion: food for a week most likely. No wonder I got fat in the US. But now I am getting slim again in the US, and more than that: FIT! I love this country. We used to call it the country of unlimited possibilities. It still is: morbidly obese, a ultra-marathon-runner and anything in between, the choice is mine!
