Dang weathermen

Thursday, June 24, 2010

I set my alarm to get up before 5 and go running/walking. As I was getting ready for bed I had the news on and good ole Jeff the weatherman said that a huge storm would be coming in and would be with us "during our waking hours" and last for awhile. Then the day would clear up and be quite pleasant. I thought I could run in the rain but it sounded like a thunderstorm because Jeff said that it could be waking us up before our alarms. I reset my alarm and figured I'd go after work today.

I get up to no rain (it may have rained a few hours earlier). Grrrrr. Then when I was getting ready, Dennis the weatherman from the same station gave his forecast for today on the radio - hot and humid with a chance of afternoon and evening showers, high of 88. Really, do you guys use the same computers? Do you check with each other before you go on air?

So now I have to talk myself into exercising after work all day long. I obsess about it. Will it rain, will it not? Will I be tired? Will I feel like it? Do I bring the dog? I can do anything for 45 minutes.

Dang weathermen!

(or should I title this - "More excuses not to exercise" - Hmmmmm???)

I am convinced these weathermen do it just to mess with our heads!

I am really struggling with exercise in the air in the house so it is hot even in the morning sometimes. I go back and forth - it's a real problem, no it's just an excuse, no a real problem....

I have convinced myself that rain is good, no chance I will get to hot.

Living in California, it is hard to imagine unpredictable weather affecting plans, but I can see how it would really be a pain in the neck!! I hope you feel like running tonight.

Have a good day!

I so agree! I just stick my arm out the door now and notice the bird's behavior at our bird feeders. I seem to be doing better than the weathermen:D

I was out the door this morning by 6 a.m. Ran 4 miles. Nobody knows what the weather will be in Pittsburgh in Summer from one minute to the next.

I hear you. I know you're somewhat in my geographic vicinity, and this time of year we just expect that everyday there is a chance of thunderstorms, usually at the end and beginning of the day. Next time set the alarm--if it's storming, you can go back to bed and if not, you'll get your exercise in! Or maybe you can even have a back-up plan for an indoor activity if you're up and at 'em anyway?

I'll save you the trouble of paying attention to the weatherpersons: expect thunderstorms as a possibility every day until September. This time of year, they literally "pop up" and the weatherpeople struggle to predict them until a few hours beforehand. Count on it and you won't be surprised! :-)

I hope you have a better day!
