Off to a Good Start - Or Not?

Today was my first weigh in day and after one week, I've lost two pounds. YEAH!!!



Thats great - right? I know it's only two pounds but the way I see it, I didn't gain two pounds. All of my hard work this week paid off. I don't know though. Not sure what I'm feeling right now except that I keep remembering what a physical trainer (who is the epitome of fit) told me recently.

"The faster you lose it, the less likely you will be able to keep it off". Hmmm...

Is two pounds a week too fast? It can't be - right? Hubby asked me this morning, "what if you only lost a pound? Would you still be as motivated?"

"#%!! YES!"

Even if I only lost a pound, it's still better than gaining a pound or losing nothing. Now losing nothing after working really hard all week would be really discouraging.

I'm sure that at some point in my journey to getting healthier, there will be those weeks that I will lose nothing but for right now, I am ecstatic about my two pound loss and I am as motivated as ever.

    Teriana - Thx for the support and encouragement; I really appreciate it. This has been one of the best things about joining SP is all the support and encouragement. Definitely makes me want to hang around a lot more and get to know other SP folks.

    Yea for you! Two pounds is awesome. We will do this. And I agree, one pound, half a pound, even staying the same is okay. The main thing is that we are finally taking care of ourselves. I too was a healthy vegetarian once, fit and trim, worked out five days a week, etc. But that was BC (before children). Mine are older now so I have some time to spend on me. I like your positive attitude!!!!

    Brinagu3 - I know that there will be those weeks that I will challenge me to stay motivated and continue on my path but for now, I am just happy to know that what I'm doing is good.

Trinaco2 - I know people who have lost more quicker and unfortunately, I've seen them put it right back on once they reached their goal. This is why that trainers words are kind of sticking in my mind right now.

Carla-216 - Thx for the encouragement; I really appreciate it. I'm feeling really good about my plan and am definitely going to do my best to stick to it.

Pdsaway4ever - That's the way I see it to. Anything other than gaining is all good to me.

Thx for all of the good wishes and support everyone; I really appreciate it. I am really enjoying myself here on SP. Who knew losing weight would be so fun.

    Two pounds is a great loss and you should be as motivated as ever! I'm excited for you and look forward to watching you shrink throughout your Spark journey.

When I was actively counting Points with Weight Watchers, they recommend .5-2 lb loss on average per week. So, no, 2 lb is not too much!

  Congrats. 2 lbs is great and I know that people sometimes lose more in a week, but it's supposed to be the healthy weekly limit. A lot of times when people lose a lot more it's water and sometimes muscle. So keep up the good work.

    Congratulations! 2 lb loss is great. So is a one pound loss. Yes, you will have those weeks when you lose nothing. Weight loss is an interesting and sometimes mysterious thing. You will have weeks where you do everything right and lose nothing and weeks where you completely fall off the wagon - eat on the run, no time to work out, etc - a miraculously, the needle on the scale will inch down. The trick is do keep doing the right thing and not get too caught up in the numbers.
