My 8 week Physique 57 results

Monday, June 21, 2010

I've been wanting to write these since Saturday since it was official I was done doing 8 weeks of P57. I did not miss one workout which I am very proud of myself for doing. When I first started I was doing barre workouts on and off. For some reason I just couldn't do it consistently. At my job we did the fitness challenge Walk Kansas and I did NOT want to be at the bottom so I knew that if I wanted to workout consistently I had to wake up at 4:30 everyday. I think the only instructor that could keep me awake at that time is Tanya so that's why I decided to do P57 instead of Fluidity. I had to start of doing the beginner modifications. I just couldn't do all those plies and pulsing without taking a break. My flexibility was BAD! Thigh dancing was horrendous, but I stuck with it. The weight started to come off really fast. The only thing I gave up food wise was soda. I gave up on Coke!

I think it just took a couple of weeks for me to start doing all the reps in the workout. My flexibility was improving. My jeans were fitting loose. People at work and my family could tell I was losing weight. Today I can do the whole workout following Shelly who does the advance moves. Well I can follow her most of the time! I'm still having trouble doing pushups with one leg. The tricep dips still hard and planks are improving. One day I will be able to get my leg just as high as Shelly. I love these workouts because there is always a way to make them tougher. Even though I've been doing them for 8 weeks I am not bored of them one bit. I will be adding other workouts on the short days, but the Classical workout will be done 3x a week still. Love that workout!

I've lost 15 pounds since I started.
Hips: -2.5 (no wonder my jeans are all loose now!)
Waist: -1.5
Thighs: -1.5
Calves: -.5
Arms: -.75

As a reward for doing these I have booked a class at a Barre studio which is 90 min. from my house. It was the closest one! Living in a small town sucks! I am so looking forward to take a live barre class. I've also booked a personal training session with the owner. I am really looking forward to this because I want some form pointers and see how I can take my workouts to the next level. I wont be able to go over there till July 2, but I am counting down already!

I'm thinking I'll start doing this workout. I have the dvd's but felt intimidated because I didn't think I could complete the workout. After hearing your results I don't know why I put it off so long. I don't have a barre at home, what are you using. I read somewhere that someone is using a chair...that I have. I don't have chairs with very high backs, does this matter. Help!!! I want to get started ASAP.

Yup! Tanya is the only barre instructor that can keep me up at 4:30! She is so loud and I love her goofy personality. I can't wait for more Tanya workouts!

WTG Denise! It just shows that barre workouts DO work for getting you tighter!

I loved how Tanya is the only person that can keep you up at 4:30 a.m.

    Thanks!
Kindra- Barre workouts are exercises that are done at a ballet bar. Usually they are small isometric exercises based of the Lotte Berk method. Physique 57 is the name of a company that sorta updated the Lotte Berk Method and made it more cardio like. Here's their website and you can see a preview of the workouts at www.physique57.com. There are also a lot of preview videos of theirs at youtube.com

emoticon That is so great! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments. It's so great when you find something that works for you. Don't know a lot of the terminologies you used. What is P57 and Barre? I also think it's great that you are rewarding yourself with something that isn't food related. Good for you!

    Woo hoo!! Way to go!

I live in a small town, too, so I feel your pain. I wanted to take a zumba class, but there were none around. So, I ordered the videos.

I hope I'm as successful as you have been! Keep up the good work! You can do it!!
