Ahhhh, finally taking the plunge!

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

After a slightly depressing day yesterday I made a decision to change! I'm struggling with the last few pounds here and after trying on my swim suit yesterday, and looking exactly the same as I did last year, I'm finally going to take action on some things I've been wanting to do anyways!

First up I need heavier weights! And since I really don't think joining a gym is an option for me, since I wasted all my previous memberships, I plan to start saving for the adjustable dumbbells I've been wanting and buy them before I had planned. Originally they were going to be a gift to myself for reaching my final goal. Now they are going to be a tool for reaching my final goal! emoticon emoticon

Next up I'm cleaning up my diet. I got the "Eat Clean Diet" book for Christmas and had read about half of it till last night. I finished reading it last night, made notes on some recipes and meals that sounded good and have made some other notes and lists to help me for reference till I get the hang of it. Bu-buy processed crap! Honestly I don't do too too bad right now. But I could do a whole lot better! I already plan everything I eat the day before and pack up my food to take to work and schedule snack times etc. So really my big change will be in the food I'm actually packing. Well some of it. I don't plan to be as strict as they tell you to be in the book though. They say you can splurge "once in a while." And really I need several per week. Chocolate, kettle corn popcorn emoticon, a McDonald's ice cream cone here and there and of course my splurge meal each week that is usually pizza! emoticon I'm hoping that cleaning up my diet will also help me increase my protein intake to help build some muscle.

If these two things don't help me reach my fitness goals then I don't know what will!?

Why do those last few pounds never want to leave? emoticon They must really like you! ;) I give you lots of credit for cutting out the process food. That is a huge challenge in my opinion that I know I could not keep. And at least you get in a bathing suite, unlike me! lol Nevertheless, I know you have a good strong willpower that has taken you this far and will take you further if you put your mind to it! emoticon

Ahhh the "trying on bathing suit time of year". Get those new weights and start your new plan. It was a great gift for yourself at goal, but even better to have them to help you get there.

I'm here for you!!!

Have you thought that the multiple splurges are holding you back? I'm not saying to cut them out entirely but be aware of how much you are consuming in each of these treats. Maybe cut the servings in half but still have the treat. It's just a thought. I know I'm the bad guy for even mentioning it but......that's just me. I've been wanting the adjustable dumbbells for quite some time also. When it comes to buying them they seem so expensive but what a great investment in your health.

It sounds like you are making GREAT decisions! I eat pretty clean, but I HAVE to have my treats - otherwise, I just can't stay on track. If you're cutting out processed stuff and junk food most of the time, that is a great step!!

I think you're on the right track. I have made small changes and when I became comfortable, went on to some bigger ones. I have lost 17 pounds so far! Just remember progress, not perfection! Good Luck! emoticon
