I guess I kind of disapeared for a couple of weeks, but I've been really busy, what with a math class I already dropped, A-kon, starting two community education classes, and getting a new job!
The math class is hardly worth mentioning, even though that's what took up the majority of my time for the week and a half I was in it. I never should have tried to take a math class during a short semester...I was behind before I even got started with it...oh well.
The Cutie Honey outfit turned out pretty well, and I'll post a picture after I retouch it a bit in photoshop ^_^;; I just want to see if I can get rid of the dark shadows on my face.
Anyway, I did have quite a few people ask to take my picture (mostly older people, I don't think very many of the younger people there had a clue who Cutie Honey was...), so I think it was a success! The only problem was, I really wasn't able to wear the costume that long because those stupid heels were killing me! I think I was only able to wear them for about 4 hours on Saturday before I had to change. I might just have to get some more comfortable shoes before AnimeFest.
I started taking two community education classes. One is "Tone and Trim," which is a pretty much a cheezy 1980's style aerobics class :P Despite being cheezy and all the music originating before 1995, it's actually a great workout, the class is 3 times a week for an hour each time, and it's only $30 a month! If I can keep up going 3 times a week, I should be in pretty good shape by the time summer is out (and I'll make an even better Cutie Honey for AnimeFest!).
My other class is a bellydancing class, which is so much fun! Not as good a workout as Tone and Trim, though, and a lot more expensive ($98 for one one hour class a week for six weeks), but really FUN. And I think I might even get pretty good at it ^_^
...Okay, so that's what's been going on for the past couple of weeks, but the really big thing that happened is that I got a new job today. It's in the same department at the school that I was already working in as a work-study, but it's a part time job as a junior programmer, and I'm making $5 an hour more than I was, in addition to being able to work an extra 8 hours a week. So lots more $$$. But also, lots more responsibility...I really hope I don't screw this up! My job title is now "junior programmer" or "assistant programmer" --one of those, anway--and I'm supposed to be working on this new JICs thing they're launching, which is some kind of database. I think what I'm mostly going to be doing though is the CSS that controls what the frontend of the database looks like...anyway, CSS I can do, but there's a lot of stuff I'm going to have to learn, because I've really never worked with a database! They're using IIS, which I'm really not familiar with at all, and I think I might need to learn ASP or something...this is the really scary part, I'm just not sure what the heck is going on yet...
I'm still kind of wondering how I got this job (who would give me a job as a junior programmer with this little experience? this may just be further proof that WC is run by crazy people). Wish me luck, because I'm going to need it!
