How Does One Do It?

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

I have had quite a time trying to figure out how to do it all. I read about some of my fellow sparks and they can be great family people, carry on full time jobs (sometimes even 2) and make time to go to the farmers market, run/exercise, cook healthy food and even grab chances to get away for weekends. I just can't seem to do it!

Some of you may or may not know that I have recently started a full time job after being a mom and working part time or not at all for the last 22 years. Also added to the mix is that I have started going back to school. Trying to find the time for me, exercise and healthy shopping is quite a challenge.

I am just afraid that all I have accomplished will be for nothing if I can't figure this out soon! That is just a scary thing for me. I am trying to be on top of it but still - the possibility still looms over me!

It is tough... as a working mom, I'm consistently the last one to go to bed and night, and the first one up in the morning.

As said above, organization is very important. Things can slip through the cracks easily. I end up making to-do lists just about every day, and exercise needs to be at the top of the list. I have to plan my meals in advance, so I have healthy veggies and cooked chicken breast ready for my "brown-bag" lunches.

When things get really busy, you have to find time to get exercise in when you can... fifteen minutes is better than nothing!

I've been thinking about this since I read it last night. I had difficulties in getting everything done when I worked full time.

In hindsight, I wish I would have given myself small daily goals. That way I could have created some success to work with.

Only you know what is do-able for you, but I think you should try to keep on top of it daily. I know you decided to start blogging, so that is a great start.

I think you should keep blogging about your progress with this issue and see how your solutions develop over time.

Good luck, Felicia!

It's tough but I find organization is the key. But even that takes time and effort! Good Luck!

    Hi Felicia,
I sure struggle with the same thing. I am up at 5:30 to be ready to leave for work at 7:00 am. I work full time and also run a home-based business. I try very hard to work my exercise in, but it is hard. When I do have time, I am so tired.

I am trying to go to the gym after work two days a week, and to do a workout at lunchtime the other three days. That works sometimes. I wish I was close enough to work to take my bike, that would be great.

Let me know how you work it out.

You can gain time by using your legs in going to school or work instead of car or bus and you add it to your workouts
