As of this past Saturday, officially, 50 lbs are gone. So I had hubby take a pic so I could compare to my before pic. So.........
This is me at my starting weight of 275
And this is me at current weight of 224.7 --- 50 lbs less.
When I started this endeavor, I knew I wanted it to work this time, but I wasn't sure I could do it. But I know I can complete what I've started now. I think the biggest thing that's helped me to make this permanent this time is, I've looked at this as a lifestyle change and not a diet from the beginning. I knew if I looked at some of my favorite not-so-good-for-you foods as can't haves, I'd cave and pig out on them. But, from the start I've allowed myself to eat whatever I want, but I have to work it into my calorie allotment for the day/week, and yes sometimes I do go over. Also, I know which foods not to allow in the house or have for leftovers. For example, I LOVE pizza, so the only time I have pizza is if we go out for it. I have what I want but there's no leftovers in the fridge to tempt me later and I'm satisfied. I've also came up with a my own style of homemade veggie pizza that fills my pizza craving well.
Whether you have 5 lbs or 200 or more lbs to lose, the main thing is to not look at it as a diet. That makes what changes you make seem short-term and most likely that's exactly what they'll be for you. By making it a permanent part of your life success is achievable. I've still got a ways to go, but 50 lbs are gone for good and I am one happy sparkster!
