So I've mostly recovered from my bout with deathly deathly illness (see previous post for details) and am officially cleared to exercise again as long as I don't feel short of breath at all (woohoo!) and I am so ready to get back into the groove! This past week has been full of pizza, no exercise, feeling poopy, and general ick, and I've been looking at my food journal and realized I've been eating like crap for a while now. I think cleaning up my act food wise and easing back into the exercise will improve my outlook a ton (I've also been kinda mopey/lacking ambition lately and would like to get out of that mode asap).
To fix that, I took a trip to the farmer's market this morning and picked up snap peas, radishes, lettuce, & green onions, then headed over to Trader Joe's (on a side note, I'm increasingly wild about TJ's...at first I was cranky with them b/c they opened their store and the co-op across the street moved out of the neighborhood, but I still go to the co-op in their new location, and TJ's is waaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper for the organic pre-packaged goodies I buy...I still buy my bulk stuff at the co-op, but dairy, meat, and snacky food is TJ's now)..anyhow, TJ's yielded eggs, butter, milk, mushrooms, sliced gouda, chicken thighs, and penne pasta...I foresee some chicken marsala in the very near future, and some salads, and perhaps grilled cheese smamiches.
I was doing our budget stuff on Friday and noticed a sharp uptick in the eating out trend lately...so I think if we scale back our dinner plans to simple food that's quick and easy to make, we won't order in food instead, and thus I'll at least be eating healthier by default (I'd be hard pressed to do worse than half a pizza in my own pantry). It will also cut down on the massive quantities of dirty dishes I've been avoiding lately...hehe...who knew my sanity was tied to my grocery list!?
