June 5-6 all of our children, their spouses and our grandchildren were able to get together for a brief gathering. The video shows my parents in the middle of this gathering. For now, all our grandchildren are their only great-grandchildren. So this gathering was a real treat for them as well. We have 12 grandchildren - 10 boys, 2 girls - with another grandson due in August or Sept. I never imagined that when I met my DH over 40 years ago that this precious group of people would be the result. By the way, this gathering was on our 40th wedding anniversary.
I made a point to engrave into my memory as many precious memories of the weekend as possible. Watching our oldest grandson graduate from HS. Meeting girlfriends of the two oldest. Having the little ones come running into Grammy's arms to give me hugs and kisses. Watching the grandchildren give each other hugs, helping each other, and playing together. My daughter and I got up early Sat. morning for a 4 mile run in the park. Singing worship songs together. Seeing 4 year olds holding 2 year olds in their laps. Watching grandpa sit on the floor with the grandchildren and tell them the story of the feeding of the 5,000. Learning one of the 4 year old boys decided to try shaving rather than going to sleep. But I think my most favorite memory of the weekend is watching my Dad (over 80 years old) playing in the backyard with several of his great-grandchildren! All in all, truly a very special weekend to remember!
