The Letter....

Friday, June 11, 2010

Today my prayers were answered! We finally got the official letter from Marine Corps Boot Camp giving us our son's address. Our son wrote one line at the bottom but his handwriting looked good (very legible) so I am taking that as a good sign that he is handling all that he is going through. Marine Corps Boot Camp is very very tough. Our middle son was in it six years ago so I know what he experienced and some of his letters were rough. Got the letter at 2:30 p.m. and my husband and I both sat down and wrote a letter to get into the mail by 4 p.m. I just don't want him to be the only one whose name is not called during mail call. I know how important it is to get letters from home and to keep his spirits up. Again, we will not get to speak with him for the entire 13 weeks so "old fashioned" letter writing is the only alternative but isn't it nice to see someone's handwritten letter addressed to you. I think we need to go back to some old fashioned ways such as writing a letter. Now that my mom and dad are gone I look at the cards and letters written in their hand writing and it just warms my heart to see it. Just wanted to say I am thankful for "the letter" and I look forward to another one soon. Semper Fi! Denise

Getting a letter from home must be the best feeling when you are young and away for the first time. You must be so proud to have not only one but two sons who have served the country.. Best wishes to him and I hope he does well with the serve and has safe travels.
