I ran farther & faster today.

Friday, June 11, 2010

Thank goodness for the trailway with mile markers so I can really gauge my progress during and after my runs. The mile markers and my stopwatch motivate me. They're helping me work on reaching my goals for speed & distance. Now I understand why people like using Nike Plus so much. I'll probably get Nike Plus and an iPod later this year, but I'm happy with my Sansa Clip mp3 player and stopwatch.

When I passed the 0.5 mile marker today and saw 7:43 on my stopwatch it made me speed up. I wanted to be at 0.5 mile no later than 7 minutes & 30 seconds.

When I got to 1 mile and I saw 14:43 on my stopwatch I decided to run a little farther before turning around. My goal was to be at 1 mile 15 minutes into my run, so I was happy to see that I went faster than that thanks to speeding up at 0.5.

When I finished my time was 29:32. This is an improvement over 2 days ago, when I ran just under 2 miles in 30:55. Today I ran just over 2 miles in less than 30 minutes!
