I can not believe the time is moving so fast this year! Where has the year gone? It seems like only yesterday we were getting ready to plant and now we are slap dab in the middle of harvest season.

I have had several friends ask where have I been and what have I been doing! Well as I have said many times the Farm never sleeps! As any farmer knows when you plant, you do it all at one time, then everything comes in at one time! I have been as busy as a bear in a honey factory right before hibernation.

I will say everything is kind of crazy around here! Not that most people would notice!

I did however want to take time to give everyone some idea of what I was doing so I am including some pictures of some of our treasured blessings.

I have put up so far more than 75 quarts of squash and I could not say how many we have shared with family and friends.

I have put up 58 quarts of okra so far,,plus sharing.

These have just started coming in...Still trying to eat my share of these beauties.

Still trying to get over the nightmares of the :Jolly Green Giant" coming after me! I have put up 115 quarts so far and shared many buckets!

With all th rest still got 94 quarts of butter beans put up and shared plenty.

We got more than enough potatoes for a salad or two. 25 bushel I do believe!

I have no clue how many onions we got..never stopped to count them Only know they are good.

The carrots may not be the pretties, but they sure are sweet. I got 20 bags in the freezer and we have eaten quite a few already right out of the garden.

My favorite beets. I have put up 45 quarts of beets, we have eaten some several times and shared probably twice that many!

Am I finished. Heavens NO! Still have plenty of everything in the field, plus more coming on. The corn, watermelons are really growing, peanuts, and never fear everytime one thing gets finished...something else is planted right back in it's place!

Like I said the Farm never sleeps.

Even the sugar cane is growing and doing great.

It will be ready the last of October. and let's not forget in about a month we will be ready to start picking cotton!

Now outside all this I do find time to play with Phillip, sit on the porch with my Dh when he comes home once a week, and I enjoy my walking time,we get our time in the pool and I really try to log into Sp at least once a day!

Please always set your goals. You can do them! This is your life! Life is good and will bring you plenty of joy and happiness!

Have a great Week end!

Thank God I'm a Farm Girl!

Ok, after reading you blog and looking at the pics of your BEAUTIFUL veggies, I feel like a whinny little child. I've been busy with gardening and canning and freezing and all that entails, but NOTHING like as much as you have. I can't manage to get it all done and do anything else. My hat is off to you.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Even tho I fuss and whine, I do feel a great sense of accomplishment when it's all done. YOu are truly awesome!!!!!

Wow! You have been busy! Thanks for the pictures. I'd love to see your farm in person. I can see that with all the vegetables that you have your hands full.
I used to can and freeze the vegetables, so I know you have quite the season left for more work.
Have a great weekend!

Wow! That's a lot of veggies! Sure wish we lived closer. The kids and I would love to learn about farming. My 12 year old managed to grow some tomatoes this year, but nothing else seems to be making it, lol.

Oh, my have been a very busy girl. I was raised on a farm where we did everything from having our own truck patch to growing our own flowers, which we sold to the local greenhouse to butchering all our own meat to having fruit trees, etc. I know all too well the labor that goes into a farm. When seeing all your beautiful produce (the eggplants are gorgeous) it sure makes me long for all that fresh stuff again. I try to find a Farmer's Market locally whenever I can as it's so much nicer than the grocery store. Yes, it's an awful lot of work but, boy, you will sure enjoy it all over the winter. Great job!

What a great harvest!!! I feel so inadequate!! Now, Barbara, I wish you really could adopt me and I could come and spend some quality time with you....getting to know you and your farm (and the family) and maybe you could teach me how to make a few things grow!!

All the hugs in the world!!!!!!

Thank God you are a farm girl!!!!!
