Three Little Bears

My six year old son loves to write. He practices letters and numbers all the time. So, he has his own Composition Book that he uses a lot. As I was cleaning the dining room a couple of weeks ago, I picked up his book and thumbed through it. He had dictated a story of the three bears to his Daddy and I happened across it.
In his story, the three bears were eating soup. The Daddy bear said the soup was too hot, the little bear said it was too cold and the Mommy bear said the soup was too warm. So, they went for a jog..
They went for a jog.
There was a little more to the story, but my heart stopped at that jog. I felt so proud of his choice of activities for them there bears. I helped do that. I take them to work out with me all the time, we run and play now in the yard, soccer field and park. We take hours long bike rides for fun. Together, as a family. They see that we love activities and that choosing to be active is fun and rewarding. That is why I wanted to get healthy....to teach my children, so that their lives were richer and fuller. So, that at nearly 40 they too aren't fighting obesity and self esteem issues. My new, regular habits and passions have come through in their stories. I couldn't be prouder.
Because, I tell you what.....two years ago....them same bears would have been sitting on the couch waiting for their soup to cool, snacking on a bag of chips.
