My Body Takes Me There

Monday, June 07, 2010

It's been three summers since I started on this weight loss journey. This summer will be the best ever because I can go and do what ever I want. My body is not stopping me at all. Gone is the sore knees and feet. Gone is the pain every time I get up from sitting. I think about it all of the time. I am so grateful that I decided to get busy and stick with my plan long enough to really be able to experience the results. This past Thursday night my body took me to Disneyland. I work at a high school and it is a tradition to go to have Grad Nite at Disneyland. I signed up to be a chaperon the kids on the trip.
So there I was, a POW (previously overweight person) with thousands of teenagers at Disneyland from 12:30am until the sun came up at 6:00am. All night I kept thinking to myself, Wow, you are really doing this! I stood in long lines with no problem. I went through skinny turnstiles with out any worry. I had no problem fitting into the rides either. At the end of the trip I was so tired from being up all night and yes my knee hurt a little and I had blisters on my toes. But I felt fabulous that I was able to do something else that I really thought that I would never be able to do. It is going to be a great summer.

I know that feels good. I remember last year when I took my Brownies to the Wild Animal Park, and I was so amazed that those girls got tired before I did. It's a great feeling to be able to do those kinds of things without any pain.

How wonderful! This is really inspirational. The rewards are limitless if we stick with this. Your body is now your partner in living life, not the inhibitor. I love your positive attitude. Keep up the great work!

You are an amazing inspiration to all of us!!! I have a 19 year old son and although I have only lost 16 pounds, I notice that I can keep up with him a bit more! I had back surgery 2 years ago and I am now without pain and it is a wonderful feeling. You should be sooooooooooooooo proud of yourself. You have done a great job!!!

Oh yeah. It's going to be an AWESOME summer.

I feel the same way. And it ain't half bad for a middle-aged woman who used to have a BMI over 52!

Not only do I FIT into a nice sea kayak, but I've got two whitewater kayaks also and am happily paddling at every opportunity.

I've whitewater paddled 11 waterways already, since April! Tried a new one yesterday (we got a lot of rain and a local class II-III creek was running).

    I am having a BLAST.

I hope to have a hands roll and be paddling class IV halfway competently by the end of the season. We'll see...

And I'm going to take windsurfing lessons all next weekend.

I can so relate to everything you are saying! Especially about not having PAIN everywhere anymore! And it feels sooooo good to FIT... I remember going to Universal Studios when I was at my heaviest and going on the "ET" ride...I couldn't enjoy it because the seat was so tight and it hurt so much. Now I know that won't be a problem! It is so much fun to actually get to live life again...I'm so glad you had a great time...truly congratulations!

You are living proof that it is possible to regain a healthy body and life. I love reading stories and hope that I can get there too.
