Turning 50 and Riding a bike

Sunday, June 06, 2010

I keep talking about turning 50, like the world will end. This year in a few short months I feel like I will hit a big milestone. I don't know what is ahead of me only what I have accomplished. I work full time and wish I didn't have to I feel like I have no time to myself and want to do everything, hence the riding the bike. I really wanted a bike, something I could use for exercise, but also, maybe give me a sense of freedom. So, I bought a bike, a shiny Schwinn with 21 speeds that I still don't know what to do with. So, I have this bike and I get on and I am really, really wobbly. Lets face it I haven't rode a bike since I was a kid, and now I really don't remember riding a bike. So I ride around the block, once, not too bad. My bike riding is still limited my development but I am getting better. I rode 2.5 miles tonight and other than my butt being sore from being on the bike, I feel good, not so wobbly now and I feel free.

Sounds like so much fun.

Hope you have a great time riding.

i thought about a jump rope, then a weighted hula hoop. My husband swears the bike will sit in the garage, I have to prove him wrong. Good luck with your jump rope

Hang in there. You really never forget how to ride a bike. Sometimes our balance is a little off but make slight adjustments and you'll be fine. Enjoy reaching a milestone because there are so many who are passing on before they reach 50. Each day is a blessing from God.
