I usually like to wait for a while before buying new PC Windows software - let them get the bugs out.

This time I just couldn't wait because my dinosaur just couldn't keep up with the faster traffic online.

My printer refused to install to a 64-bit system (this was straight from Dell and Microsoft) but my laptop refused to run the U.S.P.S. Shipping Assistant.

So I googled "Dell A920 with Windows 7" and voila! I found a solution! I was advised to use the Vista driver for the printer - it worked! I was able to print labels with the U.S.P.S. Shipping Assistant from the new computer!

I pass this along just to advise, Never give up!

    I had a similar situation a couple of years ago when an "old" printer wouldn't run on my new laptop. It wasn't so old that it didn't work and I thought it would be criminal to get rid of it. I found a solution on Google as well. I always find that other people have probably already had the same problems and will generously share their solution.

    I admire your persistence! When I read your title, I was expecting something eating-related. I mean, I think probably never giving up is the key to weight management success. But I wasn't disappointed in your blog. I often need to be persistent with technology. Thanks for the reminder. Technology can be wonderful, but it can be so, so frustrating. Take care, Marsha

    I am a mac user,but my hubby has windows 7. He said vista was buggy. You sound like a computer geek--good for you!!! emoticon emoticon

    I guess that means you have gone to Windows 7 - yup - I did that a week or so ago with my new computer - and glitch, after glitch - all sorted now!!
My problem was that most of my programs are from Windows ME or earlier and therefore nor up to date for Win7!!
I refuse to buy a whole lot of new programs so battle on!! Most have got sorted - just sorting the data base ones - they are harder - but they WILL work!!

Have fun with your new computer - when they work well they are great!!
