I just didn't want to get up this morning but my internal alarm clock just HAD to go off. Then Mother nature slapped me upside the head and I was forced to roll out of bed to talk to her. You know how Mom's are - they just won't leave you alone.

I didn't want to get on the Airdyne this morning either, but I stepped on the scale and saw I lost pounds and I went "Woo Hoo" and figured that it was worth me to get the morning routine over with.

Then work - oh my. Walking and walking and, oh yes, MORE walking. No wonder my little pedometer was over 12,000 steps! Of course NOTHING worked right and it took forever - but the day was done and over over by only an extra hour and a half.

I almost didn't drive to the gym. Lucky for me my mind was on autopilot and just guided the car there. I sat for a bit debating but then I thought "Well heck, I'm already here - I might as well go in." (I didn't say "heck" BTW).

So I changed and trudged down to the weights room. Then I remembered that I had downloaded two new albums as a reward for the lost weight this morning. I just HAD to listen to them. So I cued them up and off I went to the bike.

After 15 minutes on the bike I was ready for the elliptical. Before I started that though, my Dr. suggested I do some light weight training on my knees. So I did that and I hopped on the elliptical. OK - Hopped isn't exactly the word. Is it possible to drag yourself onto an elliptical? I guess that fits better. After 10 minutes I look down and I'm like "arrgh". Then 15 more minutes in and my legs feel like jello. I'm enjoying the music but it's just DRAGGING on and on! Finally I just closed my eyes and thought "There's no place like home, there's no place like home." Sorry to say I didn't have any ruby slippers to click together. Even if I did - I would have gotten some really weird looks from the other guys in the gym. Pretty soon five more minutes and I'm done!

Wow! I'm done! Woo Hoo! Well... not quite. I headed upstairs to get on the treadmill. I like it upstairs because there are windows and I can look out and admire the view. Unfortunately most of the other exercise classes were over and so the view was limited. (hey, I'm still a guy). ANYWAY - I cranked up the treadmill and switched albums so I could listen to something else. It helped but my legs were still yelling at me. (Really! I think if there was anyone else in the room they would have heard them!)

After 15 grueling minutes on the treadmill, I got off and got back on a different exercise bike. Did you ever notice that when you really aren't into something, 15 minutes can seem like 3 days!

Pushing through the aches I managed to get my butt going on the exercise bike and managed to crank out another 15 minutes. That is actually a good idea because it stretched my muscles and I feel better. Of course today I simply fell off the bike. If I didn't have bones in my body I think I would have just oozed down the stairs to the lockers.

Oh - and did I mention that I thought it was important for me to GO SHOPPING tonight? Ya - 2 hours at Wally World (Walmart) and I was ready to go home.

Here is the bright spot. Dinner was a nice healthy subway sub loaded with veggies. I even had bought a 12" but was only able to eat half. Now, maybe the "Twisted Tea's" that I had with it weren't exactly on the menu -but I figured I could fudge.

Whew! Sorry for the long winded blog. I just wanted you to know that I might be upbeat and positive most of the time but there are days like today when I just want to crawl under a rock. Wowzers!

Onwards dear friends - onwards...

It looks like you've made exercise a habit.... If you can get through a day like that and still have the energy to write a great blog post you're well on your way to your goals.

It sounds like you had a great day - lots of exercise and a big ol' shopping trip. I didn't know guys could shop - especially that long! emoticon

My day on the treadmill was like that too. Every30 seconds I was looking at the timer. I should be walking outside, but I like to watch my tv shows on the computer!

That was the PERFECT description of an unwelcome visit to the gym!

I have a love-hate relationship with my elliptical trainer. It was, as you know, invented in the middle ages by the same team that brought us the Spanish Inquisition....

I can concur that it is in fact possible to drag oneself onto gym equipment!!! I just got back from the gym and I was soooOOOooo tired and really just wanted to say the heck with it and go to sleep. BUT I have that whole 30 day challenge going and it would really bite to give up after just 3 or 4 days! And twisted tea sounds like an amazing idea right now... hey it's not soda so I can have a sip or twelve! LOL Take care Ed... Nice hearing about your day!!!

I spent an hour and half at Wally World tonight; not a happy camper by the time I got out of there. Have a great weekend!
