So I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago to get my yearly and he sent me in for bloodwork. So the results came back and he called me to get the results. I went in this morning at the ungodly hour of 7am. Apparently I have a cholesterol ratio of 6:3, a normal level is 5:3. So in other words I have high cholesterol. Gakk. I can deal with this. I will have to research to see what it takes to level cholesterol. And then he goes into my weight and how he referred me to the dietician. They are recommending that I complete a year program where u consume 4 shakes a day for a total of 900 calories a day to lose weight. I think it' s just not for me. I need substance! So my doctor was going into lap bands- which is about $17000.00 but you can get them in Mexico for $7000.00 what a deal! I told him that's not for me. I want to do it the natural way. Why can't he understand that? Grrr I don't want a quick fix. I want to be able to say I did it by myself without an aid from any pills or medical intervention!
On a happy note, I found a skirt in the back of my closet and I love it! I feels summery! Here's to a fabulous weekend!!

I wonder if you have the same Dr as my niece????? She was sent to the dietician to and they wanted her to do the shakes or the lap band but she declined to. Seriously what dr or dietician would recommend a shake or surgery over learning how to eat right??? It's all about making $$ it seems :(
I'm very proud of you for wanting to do it the right way with proper diet and nutrition emoticon

I agree with Amber, it sounds like maybe this doctor isn't for you either. I know alot of people who would love to have a doctor reccommend a quick fix, but I am right there with you, natural is the way to go!

I could see maybe doing some kind of quick fix for a quick amount of time, just to shock your body into weightloss, but a year on shakes? NO WAY!

I totally get ya on wanting to be able to say you did it on your own. Feels accomplishing (not really a word, but it is now). Personally, I feel like when I see someone who has lost a tremendous amount of weight, and I ask how they did it, and they respond with some kind of surgery, I feel like they cheated. They really didn't do it on their own...

WAY TO GO in turning down the quickies and keeping to it on doing it on your own! WOO HOO!! And feeling all summery while you are at it! YAY!

Are you sure this doctor is the right one for you? It's not often that doctors discourage you from going au-naturel healthy. I'm not getting anywhere myself and I've been at it for 6 months. I've decided to start taking fat burners and maintain my healthy eating and excercise lifestyle. Hopefully it will give me a jump start but still help me to live a clean lifestyle and give me the satisfaction of doing it on my own. Otheriwse green is lean lol Best of luck, keep up the good work and don't let silly doctors take away your motivation!
