Appearances Can Be Deceiving...

While staying down here in Georgia our son and fiancée have been kind enough to let us stay in their guest bedroom. He has been so busy that he hasn't yet managed to either buy a lawnmower or arrange for a lawn service and things are looking more than a bit scraggly. I figure, hey, the least I could do is to rent a lawn mower and take care of the lawn!

I am one of the world's WORST old is somebody? Um, somewhere between 30 and 60...what time will I be home? Um...sometime...

So how long will it take to get this lawn mowed...?

Couple hours, maybe...?

Try four to five hours! In hot, humid Georgia sunshine! Lots of holes throughout the lawn...I'm told they are from armadillos...which surprises me...didn't think they traveled up north this far! Haven't seen any around, just a flattened armored tail on the road while Nordic walking...the vulture with its knobby head was a bit miffed that I forced it to leave the road! Don't see THOSE 'round up north! Later in evening I got a preview of the firefly light show which hasn't rolled around yet up in New York.

But the lawn is done and muchly appreciated by son & fiancée...PLUS I got a good dose of the outdoors and keeping this body in motion! :-)

Enjoyed a delicious dinner of leftovers: a big tossed salad of spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, red peppers, carrots and broccoli along with leftover blackened catfish (you know, half eaten at the restaurant, the other half is the next meal at home...?) smothered with caramelized onions and roasted cloves of garlic steamed in foil on the barbecue grill...yum!

I'm finally seeing a few bicycles on the roads around here and in Macon I actually saw a road or two with a designated bike lane...precious few bikers and accommodations for them on the roads around this part of the country...grr!

    very good workout is lawn mowing.. And how ironic that with as much sunny weather has no bike lanes... i lived down south in NC for awhile.. and yeah.. bike riding through town was just a suicidal attempt...i made it to work the one day i did it ..but never again after that..One of these days i'll get over that fear... And thanks for posting that link..I'm going to check itout now!

I'm struggling with my upstream swimming. Right now the current is pretty strong and this little fish has lost some progress.

I've joined a couple of challenges over at the 300+ team - since that's where I came from, I feel a camaraderie with them that I don't always feel around people who are my current size. And it's good for me to stay in touch with where I started. It helps ground me.

It'll be hard to stay apace with them given that I intend to lose 20 lbs total, but you know nothing motivates me like a good stiff challenge.

    i see you are still taking every opportunity to get your exercise in.4 to 5 hours,long job,but good for you and good for them,i bet they were over the moon emoticon

    Wow, incorporating exercise with helping someone is the definition of a true Sparker! mow on!

    What a great way to use your time, help out the kids, and get in some different exercise, Don. I'm sure the kids appreciated it! It's good to hear you are keeping right on track while you are away from home. Bet you are missing your bike!

    Hey.. you are not too far from my brother. Was Air Force at Warner Robbins. Live in Centerville, I believe is the name of the town. Glad to hear they have bike lanes down that way.
