Life's little moments

Thursday, June 03, 2010

Today while I was out walking in the humid, sticky weather, the sun came out and a breeze picked up. I stopped my walk, lifted my face to the sun, and just kept silent for a moment. It was one of those pure moments of joy that are too infrequent for me these days. In seconds it had passed; I turned my MP3 back on and continued on my walk home. Someone leaving their house across the street must have though I was a bit balmy; they pulled away s l o w l y from their parking space.

I've been going through a rough patch and some good things are starting to happen, some are staying the same, and some are still questionable. Today to have this brief moment of calm, joy, I don't really have an adequate word for it, but it was like a confirmation. My heart was lifted and though the moment has passed, the memory is almost as good.

Sometimes life gives you one of these special moments. I am so glad that you were aware of it. I had a similar episode last week. It had been gray and yucky most of the day. It even rained a bit. My deep water aerobic class was held anyway despite the gray cool weather. We were cold in the pool, but determined to make the class count. About half-way through the class the sun peeked through the clouds and we were blessed with a partial RAINBOW. It was so awesome. It was as if God were saying, yep... this is what you are supposed to be doing. Sometimes these moments just pop up and help us to remember to be grateful for the blessings we DO have and forget.. for a moment the stress related things that try to keep us down. I hope that you get more blessings than struggles in your life. Love you, Dawn

You have captured many of life's moments with the pictures you have posted. When I walk, I know I have to move at a good pace in order to get the heart rate up, but I look for my neighbors and I look for wildlife. I see squirrels and rabbits and there is a long-haired black cat that sits on the tree lawn and it doesn't run away when I come by.
I enjoy watching the birds slide down the pool cover to get a drink of water from the water that has accumulated on the cover. There are lots of things that could cause me to worry, but worry won't solve a single problem.
This Scripture has helped me so many times: Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. At times I feel like my sanity depends on focusing on that Scripture.

I think that these brief moments are the universe speaking to us...telling us that no matter how big we think our burdens are at the moment that our spirits always have the ability to soar and that as long as we persue our life's lessons we will be safe and peaceful and happy. I'm glad you had this glimpse...they are all too rare..but crystalize it in your memory banks and go to it as your solace...hugs and remember with every downward cycle there is an upward cycle just around the corner! emoticon emoticon emoticon Life is a gift..we just have to get through the wrappings! emoticon

hi there, im not very good at keeping up with other peoples blogs, but you commented on mine, so i thought i would take a look at your page and your blogs. im gonna try to spend more time reading other people's pages, so that i can get to know them better. anyways, i had a similar experience yesterday. i was out on the walking path near my house and i looked up to see a hawk soaring in the sky. he was not flapping his wings, but just floating, in a big circle. i watched him for a few minutes, just soaring. i thought to myself, what a feeling that must be. just to soar...floating in the air...seemed to be carefree. it was a special moment for me as well. earlier that day i decided, instead of just walking for my health, i was going to walk and enjoy the experience. its nice to slow down and see the world around us.

Have a special moment like that is rare and one I think you needed. I am glad you can find that inner peace even just for a moment, hopefully they will come more often for you.

Good for you, savoring that moment to JUST BE. I often, especially when I am caught up in things, just try to take a moment to care for myself with a cup of tea, a song on the radio, a cool breeze, to center myself again.

Glad you took care of yourself today!

Sounds like you've hit a rough patch, losing your job. Also have some life-changing decisions you want to make. (I read your page.) Wishing you all the best in your choices.

Helen
