Recovering slowly but surely

Thursday, June 03, 2010

My knee is doing so much better. I am walking without any pain and that means no more limping! I am getting better at managing the stairs but that progress seems to be slower. My knee has improved to the point that I'm going to start walking again for exercise, although, running still seems a way off. I am working toward staying on track and not stressing so much on the weight I gained during this "ordeal". I keep telling myself "just keep going"......I think I may need to go back and re-read that section in the Spark book about positive self talk!

My mom and I finished clearing out my grandfather's apartment on Monday. That was so hard. Lots of decisions about what to keep and what to let go. There were so many memories in there and I still miss him so much.

We have made a decision on a house in North Carolina and are in the process of negotiating an offer and ironing out details. It has been hard on the family living so far apart but there is light at the end of the tunnel. We are hoping for a move in date of 7/15 and we will all be together again for good! I am so excited. A cross country move can be scary and stressful but, more than anything, I am so grateful for a fresh start. I can hardly wait.

You have really been tested these last few months but looks like you have passed with flying colors. So glad to hear that you knew is doing so well...be careful on those stairs. Don't worry about running again just yet...make sure your knee is 100% before trying that...AWESOME about being able to walk without pain!!! Walking is good exercise and not as hard on your joints as the pounding of running...be happy with that at the moment!! You have really come a long way. Slow and steady wins the race.
Your grandfather played a very important part of your life. You will miss him for a very long time and that is normal. Just smile when you think of him as he will always be with you...his memories and love are only a breath away. He is smiling down at you always!!!
I am excited for you and anxious to hear about the house!! A new house, a fresh start, and your family together again!!! Praying that 7/15 works out for you and yours.
You are in my thoughts and prayers also as you continue the healing process. Don't fret about what has past...keep your eyes on your future and your goals...one day at a time, my friend.
Blessings and hugs,
Helen
