Sometimes, I wish I could just get rid of the scale altogether in this journey for better health and overall fitness. A photography friend and Spark People member who hasn't seen me in a month or so remarked last week that I looked great and she could tell I had lost weight. Of course I screamed in delight and said thanks, but I couldn't stop myself from saying, "yeah, but according to the scale I haven't lost anything!"
We both commiserated about our shared experiences and how disappointing it can be to not see results on the scale. We know something is happening as our clothes are fitting better and people continue to acknowledge our success in losing weight. But why isn't it showing up on the scale? Why can't I say that after five months of logging my food and workouts on Sparkpeople, I can't say I've lost a specific amount of weight...not five pounds or even 10 pounds more than what I lost in the first month on the program? What's happening?
