Veggie Straws are my downfall!

I just can't seem to not eat them when I'm working! Tried carrots and celery. Tried fruit. Not the same as Veggie Straws. I think it's also partly the salt--I think I have a tendency to sweat out all my electrolytes, and my body will often crave salt.

Veggie Straws are usually not a problem if I have been good with my eating for the day and leave some calories for them when I'm working at night. Or if I work earlier that day and snack on Veggie Straws, and then cut back on my dinner to accommodate.

But tonight I had not left calories and I ate my Veggie Straws anyway. My problem is my portion control. I admit it. I portion out my Veggie Straws to no avail, I just eat several portions anyway.

On the upside, I got a lot of work done, thanks to the Veggie Straws.

I think that I need to better plan for Veggie Straw consumption. Come to think of it, that has worked in the past a few times, where I will eat a smaller portion at dinner because I promise myself some Veggie Straws that night. Or I have a portion of Veggie Straws during the afternoon when I'm not so hungry, when it's easier for me to stop after one portion. (As opposed to nighttime when I turn into a rabid Veggie Straw-devouring monster.)

Okay, that'll be my plan of action. Either Veggie Straws during the afternoon (which I think is my best option since I have more self control then) or more Veggie-Straw-mindful eating at dinner. That seems a bit stupid, but let's see if it works.

    I have a dieting friend who eats pickles and/or celery sticks dipped in salsa. Both the pickles and the salsa are salty so it satisfies his cravings.

    Veggie Straws are salty, light chips. They have less fat than potato chips and I like them because they have a very light texture. I also like them because they're salty!

    I've tried other treats that are healthier for me, but in general I am craving something salty, not something sweet, and eating something sweet usually makes the craving worse. :( I did try popcorn a couple weeks ago but ended up eating more than I should of THAT, too! Argh!

    I did try not buying Veggie Straws for a few months, but my writing productivity went WAY down without a salty snack. I tried healthier substitutions but couldn't find anything that worked as well. Right now I'm also on deadline, so I ended up buying a bag.

    Do any of you have suggestions for low fat salty snacks?

    Veggie straws are delicious. I only purchased them once after trying them in the store but the bag did disappear quickly. I haven't bought them since.

    I saw a big bag of those on my Sam's Club trip the other day and really had to restrain myself from putting them in the cart -LOL!!

    I do not know what veggie straws are, either. Have you tried making sugar-free jello? You can add a diet drink in place of cold water. Also fat-free yogurt is a delicious, creamy treat. Best wishes!

    I don't even know what veggie straws are...but they sound kinda like munchy addictive finger food. Why not just not buy them for a week and replace them with something else? They sound like they could sabotage you without you knowing it...stress eating?
