So today was my second 5k of the season. I think I have figured out the proper pre race fuel for my body. I started the morning with 3 bottle of water. Next on the agenda was a juice drink made with my juicer (1 beet, 1 apple, 15 baby carrots, kale, and a lime). The race was set to start at 11 so my plan was to leave my house around 9:15 with a whole grain bagel with peanut butter and a banana.
9:15 head out to my husbands truck because my daughter had my car and the lights were left on all night, therefore the battery was dead....
9:17 call mom and to see if she can come over with jumper cables.
9:19 tell mom we are going to ask neighbor for a jump but there car didn't have the juice.
9:22 call mom back to ask if she can still come
9:45 Mom arrives at my house and me and the boys hop into the car. But we didn't get off that easy. My dad has to go to the bathroom, then as he is coming out I need to go.
9:50 We are off and I say "I need to be there by 10:45, then look at the paperwork again and realize i need to be there by 10:30!! Crap dad is NOT a fast driver but today he wanted to get me there on time!!
10:25 I arrived at the race venue!!
I walked around for a while. Met up with a lady from work that was also running this race.
11:00 the race was off! My goal was to beat last weeks time (27:42). I didn't look at my watch until I passed mile one. My breathing was great and my legs felt awesome.
Mile 2 was ok I was thinking to myself wow I feel pretty good and the music was jamming from my IPOD that was until about mile 2.6 and then I ran out of music on my playlist so the last .5 miles I was forced to listen to my breathing.
Mile 3.0 I could hear the music playing from the finish line. It was incredible. I pulled all the strength I had in me and kicked it into high gear!!
Finish time 26:30!! Average pace 8:30 seconds per mile.
Next on the agenda a 10K in 6 days!!
